Save October 2, 2010 for the DFW Humane Society party and fundraiser. If you haven’t attended this event before, it’s a wonderful time spent mingling with community members and adoptive families who really care about the plight of homeless animals in the DFW area.
WHEN: Saturday, October 2, 2010 – 6:00 to 11:00 PM
WHERE: Westin DFW Airport Trinity Ballroom
4545 W. John Carpenter Fwy., Irving, TX 75063
WHAT: The party will include live music, casino tables, local celebrities, a pet parade, silent auction and a feast of appetizers, three course dinner and dessert.
HOW TO HELP: Auction donors and event sponsors are needed. By donating items and services to the silent auction or by becoming an event sponsor for as little as $250, you can help deserving animals go to loving forever homes and further DFW Humane Society’s mission.

The DFW Humane Society is a non profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1967. They are a no-kill shelter dedicated to giving homeless and unwanted pets a second chance in life through adoption. The DFW Humane Society house about 80-100 animals at any given time and take in strays and owner released pets from the DFW Metroplex. The DFW Humane Society doesn’t receive and state or federal funding so they depend solely on caring people for their survival.

In Indonesia, a young long tailed macaque monkey has been spotted in Monkey Park Forest loving on and taking care of a marmalade tabby kitten.
All’s I know is somebody better call National Geographic to let them know about this very rare MACCAT!

Simon’s put up some new downloadable free stuff just for y’all on his site. There are I heart Simon’s Cat badges, wallpapers, animated gifs like that one ———>
and the good old standby, Simon’s Cat cut out, stand up thingie. It’s just like having Simon’s Cat in your own home!
If you extra heart Simon’s Cat, and I mean really lurve him, you can also fan him on facebook. His other fans have posted up lots of cute cat shots and you might find the “Sometimes I play my cat like a guitar” group.
If you don’t know Simon Tofield yet, you should. He’s an English animator who has four cats. He draws every frame of his animations by hand…manual tweening, baby! Simon also does the sounds and works with a sound engineer named Shrooty. That all for now, but there’s plenty more at SimonsCat.com.

Okay, so, Oscar’s new feet aren’t really bionic, but they are a new incredible prosthetic device that has also been used on a woman who was a victim of the 2005 London Bombing attack. A post of metal is fused into the natural bone at the site of the amputation and the skin is able to heal around the post, bonding to the metal. Then the new feet are custom-made implants that “peg” the ankle to the foot.
Oscar lost his back feet in an accident with a combine harvester and was brought to his owners by an unknown woman who noticed him suffering near their home. The medical procedure is the work of work of ‘bionic vet’ Noel Fitzpatrick.

I’m going to keep up with Oscar, I hope this mod goes well for him. This story is sort of freaky, but if it works well, it’s a huge leap in medical technology for animals and people.

Just in! We got a newsletter from our pals at Kitty Wigs about The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee and I’m about to die from extreme CUTENESS!!
The gal at the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee fosters those teensy kitties who aren’t old enough to go into adoption programs yet, the newborns to 8 weeks old fellers. She gets them ready to go into programs and on to their forever homes! (Having done this in the past, I know how hard it is to bottle raise babies and send them on; it’s fun, difficult, heart wrenching and rewarding. But not as heart wrenching if you decide to keep two or three…or five.) And she uses her fab photo skills to highlight and blog about her tiny charges. How awesome!
Turns out The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee is smack dab in the middle of their 2010 IBKC annual fund raising event for the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society in Washington.
So as they say, “Operators are standing by!” Pop over to the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, check out their cute photos, give them a little juice if you’re so inclined (Looks to me like Clement could use another teeny-tiny cup of coffee!) and don’t forget your local charities. Shelters and rescue centers everywhere can always use a helping hand in the form of monetary donations, supplies and volunteer time.

So I just discovered the very cool CAT LADDERS. Cat Ladders hosts 825 pictures of cat ladders from 30 different countries to date and the blog owner is looking for more photos. So if you have a cat ladder, get over there and get it up on the intertubes!
But what’s a cat ladder, you say? Look to the left and see the brown “shelves” on the side of this very cute Swiss house? Those shelves are placed so a cat can go through a window or cat door in the upper level and climb up and down the house. If you want to get a better feel for what I’m talking about, just visit CAT LADDERS.

Today from 10am to 4pm at the Ballpark in Arlington, the Texas Animal Shelter Coalition is sponsoring the Lone Star Pet Adoptathon. This annual event is held during the first weekend in May and sponsored by the Texas Animal Shelter Coalition bringing Texas animal welfare groups together for the biggest adoption event of the year. Lone Star Pet Adoptathon Weekend promotes animal welfare organizations as the best place to adopt dogs and cats and tries to find homes for as many homeless animals as possible.
